Main Aims

Subsidiary Aims

  • Vocabulary, grammar

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I make students active by pictures at first, it's going to be amusing that they will engage with pictures.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

I try to give clear explanation and clarification to students about everything we want to talk about. We have different practices, such as writing, speaking... this would be more engaging and enjoyable for students.

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I give them types of practices and ask them some questions that causes them to pay more attention to the lesson.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I clarify meaning of words and pronounce the words. If someone has trouble pronouncing words, I do it again. Writing on the board, giving examples, showing some meanings to them with hands... all of these could help them understand better.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

We have controlled practices, for example about " there is/are ", it's good and engaging for paying more attention to not make more mistakes.

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

We have some practices, like a practice on the board. It causes students to write more accurately in teacher's presence.

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

These types of practices are more engaging for students, because they are free to think, free to write, free to choose and free with themselves, so they have to do it obsessively.
