In this lesson,SS discuss about the holidays they had in their childhood and holiday programmes they know and like watching.They will listen to part of a tv programme.SS improve their listening skill while learning something different about holidays.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information listening practice using a text about Holiday in the context of Difference holidays

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of holidays

Procedure

Holiday (5-10 minutes) • To make ss speak about their past experiences and while doing this,to give SS opportunity to brush up past simple and present perfect simple knowledge.

Warm up!Teacher talks briefly about the holiday he/she went on.Show two holiday photographs of teacher's.And ask students to talk on these two photos in pairs. Ask SS where/when they went on holiday last and ask them to give clues about their holiday,about how the holiday was. Ask SS whether they would like to experience again a holiday they did, or not. Elicit SS the holidays. Elicit good or bad holiday. Ask SS to make five questions and ask me to ask these questions.

Pre-Reading/Listening (10-12 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

Show SS some pictures related to the different holiday resorts that have different concepts.Ask SS what resorts they would like to go on holiday and ask why they prefer the place they choose.Ask them to study in pairs and ask them to persuade their partners of the places they would like to go on holiday. Ask why they choose this holiday? Give handout including six questions.

Reading time (1-3 minutes) • Aim to give the students an opport prac reading for specific information in the contex of a tv holiday programme

Teacher shows a picture of ayna man Saim ORHAN. Show the picture of him. Elicit SS What type of programme does he do? Do you like it? Is it a good show? Is it a holiday programme?What information does he give? Give the questions Give handout Give the text Students answers Give extra questions Ask which holiday SS would like. Ask which holiday is the most unusual.

Listening time (7-10 minutes) • To help SS improve their listening skills.Listening for gist in contex of the holiday programme.

Ask SS to listen to part of TV Programme.Ask them to ask the questions 'which holidays are Alan and Emily going on?Why did they choose this holidays?' Ask them to listen again and to tick the true sentences and to correct the false ones.

Post-Listening (8-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

Ask SS whose holiday they would like to go on/Why? Ask SS would you like to work on a farm on holiday? Why would somebody do farming on holiday? Do you think people come to cosmetic surgery on their holiday? Do you go any contries for medical holiday? Why do you think that people come Turkey for medical holiday?
