Procedure (21-36 minutes)
Ss are shown pictures of the famous history makers. Words like, study and their past simple forms “studied”, came, flew, lived, became, and won are elicited and written on the WB.
Then students will do a group activity to match pictures of the famous people with the cut outs of sentences describing each famous person’s life. There will be five pictures to go with five sentences. Each group gets a set of five pictures to match in 3 minutes.
Ss listen and practice the regular past simple forms that end with /id/ Then ss on their own have to convert some verbs from their simple present form to Past simple forms and fill in the gaps.

Ss do a quiz in pairwork and check their answers. Key will be on the WB.
Next ss will analyze sentences from the quiz and notice the word order to separate the ‘question words, Where, and When’. Then check answers in pairs.
Ss practice using What, Where, and When by organising words in order to create questions in pairs. After that they speak to each other to ask and answer those questions. Example; you/did/your best friend/Where/meet? Where did you meet your best friend?
