VOCABULARY: TV programmes, food and drink, food and drink containers. GRAMMAR: Present simple + present continuous, like/enjoy/hate/love + -ing form, countable/uncountable, some/any, a few/ a little/, a lot of /much/many, How many/how much.

Main Aims

  • To provide review of movies // food in the context of every day life

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide review of Present simple vs continuous, likes and dislikes, countable/uncountable in the context of movies // food

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask random questions about PS and PC. Ex: 1. What are you doing the next summer? 2. What kind of movies do you like? 3. What are you looking at? 4. Do you usually eat vegetables? 5. Do you like running? 6. What do you hate?

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through the previous questions I asked.

Explain the main difference between PC and PS: PS: - habits, - daily routine, - stable situations - talking about time -> frequency adverbs PC: - actions going on in this moment - temporary actions going on now - describing pictures -> time expressions: now, today, tonight Then, ask some grammatical questions, like: 1. What are the other differences between PC and PS? 2. When can you use the frequency adverbs? 3 "I'm loving it": is this sentence correct?

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Ask if there are questions.

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Do the exercises from the book.
