Procedure (32-42 minutes)
T hangs up pictures and words on the wall. T aks what they are. Ss answer. T slowly puts all the words and pictures together. T asks how they are related to jobs. T tries to elicit BENEFITS, by telling the students the items are extra things. T asks students to raise their hand for which one they think is the most important.
T will give instructions for the HO EX1 T will distribute the HO. Ss will listen once for gist and write down what profession they speakers are occupied with. T will stop the recording after each one and ask for the answers from the WC. Ss will listen again and match the "negative" and the "positive" to the speakers.
T will ask: What is the best thing for Speaker 1? (can use the company car) What is the worst thing for Speaker 1? (can't make phone calls or send emails) What is the best thing for Speaker 1? (can buy things) What is the worst thing for Speaker 2? ( often works then 10 hours) When the ss answers T will write: He can use the company car Can he use the company car? He can buy things? Can he buy things? T will elicit the form. What is the subject? What is the verb? What is the modal verb?
T will put ss into pairs. T will give instructions of EX 1 2 3 4. Ss will have 10 minutes to do this. T will give the ss the answer sheet T provides error correction if necessary.
T will put ss into new pairs and seat them back to back. T will demonstrate the new activity. T will pass out the speech activity HO. T will monitor and provide error correction.
