Procedure

Warmer/Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Describe what present simple is by showing a few examples.

Controlled practice 1 (8-10 minutes) • To practice how to ask personal information and how to respond to them

Students do exercise 4 on page 27 Explain the exercise for them Allow them to check the answers with each other Give the correct answers.

Highlighting (3-5 minutes) • To draw students attention to the target language.

Write sentences on the board about happiness and get the students to say them. eg. happiness is playing football.

Controlled practice 2 (3-5 minutes) • To concept check and practice the TL

Give the students exercise 1 on page 27 and let them do it in pairs. Listen to check the answers.

Controlled Practice 3 (12-15 minutes) • To practice on asking present simple negative questions through an activity

Students do exercise 2 on page 27 with their partner. Then they check with each other if the information is correct.

Free practice (5-10 minutes) • Students practice more at the end on present simple tenses if there's time at the end.

Students go on page 134 and practice more on their grammar.
