Procedure (35-63 minutes)
T explains that Ss need to know some words for the listening they will do in a few minutes. T checks understanding of the words by either showing photos or drawing pictures: a square, a park, a market, a bus station, a station, a lake, a beach, the sea, a river, a museum, an airport, mountains, a road, a cafe, a bar, shop, a flat, a house, a hotel, a bed and breakfast.
T delivers handouts that has a picture of a city. Several places are numbered in the picture and the Ss are asked if they can remember what those numbered places are called. After the T demonstrates, learners will start working on. Ss will then check their answers in pairs.
T shows 3 different photos of places and asks which one is a city, village or a small town. After the answers, the T asks Ss what can they see from the vocabulary we have just covered.
The T plays the relevant recording. The Ss recall the first stage and then listen to the dialogue to find out if their predictions were correct. Students give FB after matching conversations. Check in pairs and then provide open class FB.
The T plays the recording. There are 3 sentences for each place and the Ss are asked to find which places these sentences are said for. After the pair-check, the record plays again and the Ss see if they were correct.
The T introduces the task with an example. The T monitors and notes down any errors in the target vocab/structure. The T elicits and gives feedback. In case the T runs out of time, this activity may be omitted.
