Description

In this lesson students will learn some new words about every they things through visuals and understand the concept of singular and plural nouns. This can prepare them for the upcoming listening tasks which are of course in the same context. Then they will do listening tasks about shops, everyday things and conversations needed for shopping. Finally, they review numbers to use them in practicing dialogues pertains shopping.

Main Aims

  • To provide specific information and gist listening practice using a text about Name of the shop in the context of Shopping

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of shopping

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To raise students interest in getting involved with the lesson. To build a good rapport

I will stand at the center of the class and try to remember the students' names. I want to do it without making mistake and then ask students to say my name and spell it. And then ask students to remember their classmates' names.

Pre- Listening (10-12 minutes) • To teach students some new words and preparing them for the listening task

T stands at the center of the class making sure that every S can see him. T uses gestures to show the meaning of buying and shop. Then T chests the visuals and tries to elicit the words and then make students to say the words without help. After that T sticks the visuals on the board and numbers them and then ask students to ask about the words by saying the number of the words and then remember the word for that number(visual).

Pre- Listening #2 (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with some details they need for the listening and speaking tasks

T uses visuals ans body language to show the difference between singular and plural nouns. After eliciting the word, checking the students' understanding and having enough drilling T gives students different pictures plural or singular and have them mingle through the class and ask and answer the following questions about the word. What is this? This is a pen What are they? They are glasses

Gist Listening (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist listening tasks

T tries to have all students' attention and starts giving simple clear instructions. After that he checks if they have understood what to do or not and after making certain T models what they should really do. Next T plays the recording and after the track finishes T gives students some time for checking their answers then elicits the answer from as many students as possible and then confirms the correct answer.

Detailed Listening Stage (5-8 minutes) • To make students listen mor carefully and look for some details.

T should be precise in giving instructions. T uses all his assets to explain that there are three questions and they have to answer and write the down while listening. After modeling and asking some concept check questions T starts playing the track and then check the answers.

If-Time Activity (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with the chance to practice and speak the conversation that is needed in the context of shopping

T asks students to work in pairs and practice the conversation for shopping.

Pre- Listening (8-10 minutes) • To learn new numbers and prepare students for the next listening

T use visuals to elicit and practicing the numbers by drilling and then put the words for the numbers on the WB and give students the relevant numbers and asks them to com to the board to stick the numbers on the right word.

Listening Stage (8-10 minutes) • To provide the students with the language used for telling the price of the things

T first make students understand what they should say when they want to say a price by gestures and miming then practicing it. then T gives instructions and models the task then have them listen and write their answers. Then the teacher checks the answers with WC.
