Description

In this lesson Ss will review and practice the vocabulary for clothes and colors. The T will present the grammar structure for negative sentences in the present simple tense.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of negative form of the present simple in third person in the context of favorite clothes and colors

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of favorite colors and clothes

Procedure

Warm-up (4-5 minutes) • Review colors and clothes vocabulary

The T will give each S a flower with a different color and try to elicit the question: What color is your flower? There will be only five colors, so that will be the pairing activity. Once they are in pairs they will ask each other what clothes they are wearing and what color it is. After giving the instructions the T will ask ICQ: Are you going to speak or write? how much time do you have?

Favorite clothes (4-5 minutes) • Review the verb like and the word favorite

Then. the T will ask: what am I wearing? a dress? what color is it? I wear it all the time I like it very much! Try to elicit: favorite What is your favorite color? This is an optional activity: Give them pictures of people with clothes with different colors and ask them to talk about them. What color is it? Do you like it? Which one is your favorite? Grouping of three by asking them to say numbers from 1 to 3.

Listening (6-7 minutes) • To practice the vocabulary of the context of the lesson

First, the Ss will be given the instructions, The first task is listening for gist The T will explain that they are going to listen and answer the question: What are the names of the people? A quick FB as a WG T shows the HO explain the exercise ask If all of them like the same color what do you write? then give the HO to the students Second listening for the exercise. The FB will be one S of each group will be Olga, the other Ben and the last one Donna (these are the names in the listening) and they have to say what colors do they like.

Word order (5-6 minutes) • To review the grammar and vocabulary from past lessons

One person of the group will go to the board, and the T will give the others the word order-HO and explain that the two people with the HO have to put the words in the right order, and then tell the person on the board so that person can write the sentences on the board. Then the whole class will check the sentences.

Grammar- Negative forms of the present simple in the 3rd person (8-9 minutes) • To present and practice the TL

Put the seats back. The T will ask them to try to make the sentences on the board negatives. FB as a whole class. Then give and explain the HO exercise 2b and ask them to do then individually. ICQ Are you speaking or writing? Are you working alone or in pairs? Time? Then check with your partner and make one student say one sentence for the FB. Same procedure for exercise 2c

Find someone who (10-11 minutes) • To practice the TL and speaking for accuracy

The T will give the Ss the Find someone who-HO. With the sentences on the board as an example, explain the Find someone who activity. Ask someone to come up to demonstrate. Do you go to the cinema? Yes What is your name? Write the name on the sheet. Two names for each category. You have 5 minutes! ICQ: How many names? Feedback once everyone sits down. Whole class FB, asking the question at loud and putting the hands up for the answers. Depending on time have students make sentences in pairs. Demo first. Write the form on the board. Cihan likes sports. and elicit the negative form. Talk to your partner.

Speaking exercise (5-6 minutes) • To practice the TL and speaking for accuracy

The T will say: Again, what is your favorite color? Give out some color papers and the names of the colors to different students and pair them up. The T will write one or 2 extra sentences on the board and ask the Ss to write about themselves. The FB will be talking about your partner.
