Assessing the Ss vocabulary resource for talking about things you can buy in a shop and for talking about facilities in the city
Procedure (29-45 minutes)
Teacher stick pictures of a Mall on the WB and as students to discuss in pairs what ıs this?/ what it can be? (İnteraction S-S) T will ask Ss to spell the word MALL. T will ask Ss what do we have in the malls . (Shops) T will ask Ss to Spell the word SHOPS. T ask Ss What we can buy in the shop, then T stick to the WB three examples ( Shoes, sunglasses,watches). T ask Ss toward in pairs and then write examples on the board. (İnteraction T-S,S-S)
T will draw three pictures on the WB connected to time ( clock/bed clock/ alarm clock). T will ask student to guess one word with hidden 4 letters(_ _ _ _ /Time). T will do presentation about words open /closed. T use any book he/she has to show that book is open ( T will open the book) and to show book is closed (T will close the book) T will ask Ss about shops in Istanbul What time do they open /close?
T will ask to change the places of Ss and work in groups of 3-4 people. T will ask Ss to read text briefly. T will ask CCQ: How many countries did you read about? Tell me the names to those countries.
T ask Ss to read text carefully and do the task below the text. Ss will continue working in groups.
T will ask Ss to write 2 sentences about their country. Most shops .....in..........(Istanbul) are o....... ( opened) from ..... to........ Some shops in ..... (Istanbul )....are opened.....on ....... (Sunday). Most shops İn ......(Istanbul) are cl......(Closed) on Saturday and Sunday. T will put on the table cut outs from the book connected to facilities in the city /malls. Black and white handouts ( cubes with signs) + Black white handouts (words: restaurant, mosque, church, cafe, airport, station). T will ask Ss to stick picture with the proper name onto the board.
Teacher ask students what we can buy in the shop. Teacher stick three pictures of examples ( shoes, sunglasses,watches) After discussing in pairs T ask Ss to write some examples on the WB.
