Description

In this lesson Ss will learn the right P of third person form of verb in present simple tense through drilling practice. They will do a CC practice to practice more the F & M of G. They will end up with some more P practices about linking words in the sentence. They will learn some new vocabulary .

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of of P & F of third person singular present simple in the context of daily life activity

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide practice of The correct F and P of the TL
  • To practice the use of TL in the freer activity for CC and fluency

Procedure

Lead in (3-5 minutes) • To draw Ss attention in to the TL and review the grammar F

I will write three verbs on the WB: play | finish | get Nominated Ss will use them in sentences. I play footbal / I play Tanboor I finish work at 7 pm. I get up at 8 am everyday. I will demonstrate the question. Ss 1 : do you play tennis? Yes I do---------She plays tennis. Instruction: Write one sentence about your partner.

Presentation (7-10 minutes) • To introduce the correct pronunciation of the TL

There are the same three verbs on the WB: study | finish | get Use them in a sentence with she/he Are they sound the same? No Vocabulary----To sound Meaning: To hear ICQ: Are they sound the same? No, They sound different at the end. How many different sound can you hear? 3 /s/, /z/, /ız/ I will write them phonology on the board. Drilling I ask if they can write them on the WB. gets How does it sound? s finishes How doe sit sound ız can I write "finishez" ? No studies Can I write "studys/studyz"? No how does it sound? z Drilling

Controlled activity 1 (3-5 minutes) • Practice F & P and drive their attention to the irregular form of verb “have”

I will show the HO to Ss and explain to them the instruction to fill up the table. I will ask them to do it individually (1 min ) and check the answers in pairs. I will monitor them remotely. CCQ: How many verbs in group “s” ? 6 How many verbs in group “es” ? 4 How many verbs in group “ies”? 1 I will ask them if they know where to put “have” – eliciting the irregular verb correct the error at the same time.

Controlled activity 2 (1-3 minutes) • To practice the TL in the context

It is a controlled activity to ensure Ss know the correct F. I will explain the instruction (which one is correct?) I will do the first one as a demo and then I will give them HO and ask them to do it in pairs (1 min) and then check the answers. I will monitor them closely.

Controlled activity 3 (7-10 minutes) • To practice further the use of the right F in the context

I will introduce the Alison's family. I will show them a slide of a family (mother, father and daughter). I ask them some general question about Alison: Where does she live? Where does she work? Is she married? Does she have any children? I will give them HOs and ask them to read the text fast for 1 min and find the information about Alison. Then I will ask the questions again and check their answers. Then I give instruction of how to fill up the gap with the correct form of verb in 3 min. I will monitor them closely and clear their doubt about the instruction. meanwhile I write the answers on the board and when they finish I ask them to check their answer.

CCQ: What do Alison do when Paul comes to Canada? She doesn't watch TV Where does Alison work? She works at the airport. Where does Paul work? He works in Antarctica What does Alison do when her husband is away? She watches TV all the time What does Erin do when her father comes home? Play tennis in the evening, go to cinema, buys a lot of presents Does Alison have a lot of holiday? No I will check and correct their errors while activity.

Freer activity (5-7 minutes) • To use the correct F of the TL in the context and engage them in a free activity.

I will put a photo on the board with 4 verbs around it. I explain to Ss: Who is she? She is my mother She plays tennis. She teaches in the school. She cooks dinner every night. She watches Turkish serials. Write the name of a person you know and 4 verbs. Make sentences about her or him in 5 min. I ask them to check their sentences with their partners
