T writes the speech phrases on the W/B. Individual students chosen randomly to complete the Reported Speech versions. 1. "I have a car", said John. = He said that she had a car 2. "I'm not crying", said Mary. = She told me that she wasn't crying. 3. "We'll never forget you", said my friends. = They said that they would never forget me 4. "I can't remember", said Peter. = He said that he couldn't remember 5. "We may be late", said John and Mary. = They told us that they might be late 6. "I must go", said Mary. = She said that she had to go **************IMPORTANT NOTES********************* Word Changes: - 1) PRONOUNS "I think you told me" = He said he thought we'd told him. 2) TIME EXPRESSIONS "See you tomorrow" = He said he'd see me the next day. "I did it yesterday" = She said she'd done it the day before. "I went camping last week" = He said that he'd been camping the week before. 3) HERE & THIS "We don't like it here" = They told us that they didn't like it there. "This is your station" = She said (that) that was our station. Reported Questions: - "Have you been to Australia?" = He asked me if we'd been to Australia? GROUP ACTIVITY - Reported Speech Cartoon • Ss consolidate Reported Speech
