Procedure (35-55 minutes)
T asks SS about their commute. How the SS travel to work. TT tells the SS he lives in Osmenbey and commutes/travels to 4.Levent. Is it far? T asks 'What about Laura? Tell me about Laura (Elicits) Where does she live? (London) Where does she work? (Barcelona) Is it far? Yes
T regroups the SS with car/train/bus/ferryboat T projects tape script on OHP from previous lesson and leave white space down side for writing to come. then T and asks "what time does Laura get up?" T elicits "I get up about 8" T writes this on the board T elicits what we say if we say She/Laura- She get's' up at 8 and T highlights the 's' on the board.
T handouts the script form Ex 6 p139 and gives instructions. Chests the handout when explaining. Choose i work or i works in an office - Ellicit the answer from SS. Once the SS have received the hand out T tells them to pair and them says "We will do the first one together" T elicits the answer and then says "Now work in pairs and circle the correct answer" Feedback can be done by checking the answers as the whole class. T elicits these and writes them on the board. T cross checks and elicits the answers and writes them on the board. 1. work 2.works, 3.get up 4. doesn't 5.gets up, 6.has, 7.finish, 8.finishes, 9.gets, 10. don't, 11. works, 12.doesn't work.
T say "Now we will guess about your partner" T explains 'guess' with mime/act or draw someone guessing about another. T gives example - "Suat works in a shop" "Sevgi finishes her lunch" Write sentences about your partner using the verbs on the board. -work (s) -get up (gets up) -have lunch (has lunch) -finish works (finishes) -get home (gets home) - go to bed (goes to bed) T monitors and elicits Feedback- T says " Now show your partner, is it correct?" T asks SS "Is your partner similar to you?"
T puts example on the board /s/ /z/ /iz/ gets has finishes books pens buses
T chest handout 2 and reads out the words on the page. T hands the SS a sheet. T gives instructions using the example on the board and ticks the correct box. T plays 1:48 on the CD. SS then have to work in pairs to figure out which correct ending is used. T monitors and the elicits the answers with tho whole class.
T writes the following verbs on the board get up have lunch get home have dinner go to bed T then demo tasks with a strong SS- and then asks the SS to stand up and mingle. They have 5 mins to talk to each other using the board for reference. T then gets feedback by asking SS to ask what they have learnt.
