Description

In this lesson, first the students will see some pictures about marriage , weddings and then they will discuss about whether marriage belongs to past or not then They will have a reading so as to get what the author of the text is thinking about the marriage. After that they will complete the missing sentence of the text. After having a quick check. They will have a group discussion each group will have a different title after finishing they will write down their ideas and one person in each group will change the seat so as to see the others' ideas and topics and then they will talk about eachother's ideas.

Main Aims

  • To provide the students with a good understanding of the meaning of the text and the writer: whether it's past or present, the writer agrees or disagrees

Subsidiary Aims

  • To make the students discuss and share their ideas about marriage, its advantages, disadvantages, what's the situation of marriage in our country.

Procedure

Lead-in • To make my lesson connected with the previous one, activate their schemata and also guide them for the reading

They will see some examples of invitation cards and some pictures of the weddings they will also listen to two different songs that are commonly used in our weddings. This will be helpful for getting them throug the context of our next reading session i think.

Pre Reading • To make them think and have an idea of the text and its topic before reading it.

They will discuss about the sentence "Marriage is a thing of the past" (in groups of 2 people) Do you agree? or Disagree? They will share their ideas.

while reading • to make the students have a general idea about the text. And then to complete the missing sentences.

They will have a quick reading (skimming) to get the idea of the writer. After that they will have a closer reading so as to match the sentences with the paragraphs. Finally the answer key will be shown for checking.

Post Reading • To make sure they got the meaning and ideas in the passage and also use what they got by speaking and writing.

They will be in groups of three. Each group will be given with a different topic about the marriage: 1st group: Is marriage changing in your country? Why? 2nd group: At what age people get married? What is the ideal age for marriage why? 3rd group: What are the advantages and disadvantages of getting married? after that one person will change with another one from the other group to see the ideas of others. Depending on the time i'll want them to show their ideas on the board by writing on the cards.
