Procedure (30-45 minutes)
T tries to elicit some new words about shopping from the students by asking some questions ,such as; if we want to buy clothes we go ......... ? Ss say the word (shop or mall), then we ask for .............. ? Ss say (price or money). T uses real materials to help Ss to speak about shopping.
T clarifies to Ss that they will listen to a recording and to focus only on the price of the magazine. T uses ICQ to check that Ss understand the task. Do you read? Do You write? Do you focus on the people ? Do you focus on the price? T checks Ss answer and ask them to repeat the price. T uses CCQ Is it cheap? Is it expensive? How much is it in liras? After listening T writes some phrases on the board. Can I help you? I want to buy ............ How much is ..........? I will buy/take it? Here you are.
Ss listen to prices and repeat them. T uses ICQ again to make sure that Ss can say bigger number. Are you going to read? Are you going to circle? Are you going to repeat?. Ss listen and repeat the prices.
Ss listen to conversations and circle the prices. T uses ICQ again to make sure that Ss will focus only on the prices. Are you going to read? Are you going to speak? Are you going to circle?. T checks Ss answer and practice bigger numbers with Ss. Ss repeat numbers, write them on the board. In pairs Ss say the prices to each others. T monitor Ss to make sure they pronounce the price correctly.
T distributes pictures of some items with its prices. Ss using the question on the board How much is the .............. ? It's ........... ask and answer in pairs about the price of each item. T asks ICQ Are you going to read? Are you going to write? Are you going to speak? T divide the Ss in A and B the A ask first and B answer, then B ask and A answer.
