Procedure (47-64 minutes)
For the warmer, I will have students discuss in pairs how we can protect animals in the wild, then invite a few pairs to share their ideas with the class. This activity will activate their prior knowledge and prepare them for the lesson on orphan bears.
In the exposure phase, I will introduce the topic of orphan bears, connect it to the students prior knowledge of animal protection, present key vocabulary using visual aids, and outline the lessons objectives. This will prepare students for upcoming activities and ensure they understand the context and new terms.
I will emphasize the key points from the text about orphan bears, such as the challenges they face and the role of wildlife rescue teams. I will review important vocabulary and main ideas to ensure students focus on this elements during the reading and activities.
I will explain difficult vocabulary and concepts using examples and visual aids, then check for understanding with quick questions or matching activities to ensure students grasp the key ideas.
During this phase, I will guide students through a structured practice activity, such as reading the text and discussing key points. I will monitor their progress, provide feedback, and support them in using thew newly learnt vocabulary and concepts. This ensure they practice their understanding in a controlled setting.
Students will complete a matching worksheet where they match vocabulary words to their definitions and use them in a sentence. Students will also work in pairs where one student ask questions and the other one finds answers from the text. This allow students to apply the vocabulary and concepts with some independence while providing guidance as needed.
Students will engage a discussion where they use new vocabulary and concepts from the lesson. This allows them to use the language more freely and creatively, applying what they have learnt in a less structured format.
