Description

In this lesson the students will review telling the time. They will try to identify some free time activities in photos.Before identifying the photos I will show a video named "Daily Routine" to attract their attention. By practicing some phrases such as "morning,afternoon..etc." they will be able to combine them with making whole sentences.

Main Aims

  • To present and practice common verbs used to describe daily routines.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To give sts a semi-controlled speaking practice through describing daily routines and to review ways of telling time.

Procedure

Lead in (7-10 minutes) • To attract the sts attention about daily routines.

The teacher will show a video by using the projector. To get them will involve the teacher will pause the video and ask some quesitons.As it is required for the video the teacher will ask the sts to unscramble the sentences.

Talking about pictures (5-10 minutes) • To practice daily routines by identifying different pictures.

The teacher will show some pictures labelled with clock then they will be asked to fold the papers in order not to see the verbs below. The teacher will let them to think discuss the pictures and share their ideas with the class. The teacher will elicit the daily routines. While practicing this procedure the teacher may give some more informations about nouns and verbs such as "work".

Filling the blanks (5-7 minutes) • To practice present simple, daily routines, telling the time while complete the reading text.

The teacher will ask the sts to look again at the pictures on page 39. Give them some minutes to remember these pictures in their order. The teacher will ask them to work in pairs while filling the blanks. For the early finishers the teacher will ask them to compare their answers with their partners. The teacher will try to vary the groups accordinly. Finally checking the answers one by one.

Speaking, Chain drill exercise (4-7 minutes) • To check their understanding let them to ask and answer some quesitons about their own daily routines.

The teacher will start with giving some examples about his/her daily routines.Then he/she will start chain drill activity by asking a question related to their daily activities. In order to get FB the teacher will ask if they learn anything interesting about each other.

Drawing pictures (2-3 minutes) • To draw some pictures on board in order to embody some words.

The teacher will draw pictures about a time of the day. As the time is abstract the teacher will draw the picture for cathcy examples.

The teacher will show two pictures to clarify some words. The teacher will try to check their understanding

error correction (2-5 minutes) • To avoid misuse of the language

The teacher will do some corrections and point out common phrases.
