Procedure (33-42 minutes)
T elicits context by asking questions about the education systems in England and Ireland.
1. T shows a photo of a modern classroom and elicits 1-2 things about it. In PW Sts describe more details about the picture. 2. T shows a photo of a traditional classroom from the past and elicits 1-2 things about it. In PW Sts describe more details about the picture. 3. T tries to elicit 'used to' during WCFB. T writes the elicited model sentence and drills its pronunciation. 4. T asks CCQ to check if Sts understood the meaning of the TL. 5. In PW Sts discuss the two pictures using the TL. 6. T conducts FB trying to elicit the negative and interrogative form of 'used to'.
1. Sts re-read the text about Irish schools in order to find examples of TL. 2. In PW Sts check their answers. 3. During WCFB T elicits sentences and writes them on WB. 4. Sts are given HO 2 and asked to reformulate sentences using TL. 5. T sticks photos of some people and asks Sts to guess how successfull they were in school. 6. Sts are divided into groups and asked to discuss what sentences represent which person. Then they stick their sentences on the wall. 7. T conducts WCFB
1. T asks Sts to write 2 sentences about their childhood or school life using the TL. 2. T collects the papers and redistribute them to Sts. 3. Sts are asked to correct mistakes and read aloud. 4. WC tries to guess who it is about.
