I write "Things to do before you die!" on the board and ask students: "What do you want to do before you die?" I will write some of their examples on the board. If they are unwilling to give examples, I will give an example to encourage them.

In this part of the lesson I will elicit some key words from the listening: Adventurer: /ədˈventʃərə(r)/ n. a person who enjoys exciting new experiences, especially going to unusual places Disappear: /ˌdɪsəˈpɪə(r)/ v. to be lost or impossible to find Extraordinary: /ɪkˈstrɔːdnri/ adj. unexpected, surprising or strange Inspiration: /ˌɪnspəˈreɪʃn/n. a person or thing that makes you want to be better, more successful, etc Achievement:/ əˈtʃiːvmənt/ n. a thing that somebody has done successfully, especially using their own effort and skill Put off: to cancel a meeting or an arrangement that you have made with somebody Take off: the moment at which an aircraft leaves the ground and starts to fly Attempt: / əˈtempt/ n.an act of trying to do something, especially something difficult, often with no success Sort out: to find a way to solve a difficult problem, or find a solution to a negative or difficult situation. Carry on: to continue doing sth. Determination: /dɪˌtɜːmɪˈneɪʃn/ n. the quality that makes you continue trying to do something even when this is difficult Endurance: /ɪnˈdjʊərəns/ n.the ability to continue doing something painful or difficult for a long period of time without complaining. I will make drilling.

I will show students Steve Fossett's picture and ask them: "Do you know this man?" I assume that they don't know his name and write his name under the picture. I will tell them: "You're going to listen a text now. It is a news report about him. Then I will write: "Why is the reporter talking about Steve Fossett?" They will listen and try to get an answer for this question.

I will give students a list of activities (ballooning, dog racing, flying, long-distance swimming, motor racing, space travel, speed sailing) and I will write a question on the board: "Which of these activities did Steve Fossett not try?" Before they listen I will ask them to work in pair and guess the answer. Then students will listen and check their answers.

I will give students Exercise 1 and tell them work in pairs. "Now work in pairs. Write a number for each gap." I will monitor them while they are diong the activity. They will listen to the task for the last time and check thier answers. Later I will give them an answer key.

I will give a topic and make students work on it.
