Description

Today is my first lesson in my new job in English Time. I am going to make good rapport with the students from the very beginning. According to the book's lessons, I will make a quick review of The Perfect Tenses as well as a quick review of Parts of Speech in the reading block.

  • To provide review and practice of the Perfect Tenses in the context of Celebrations and Cermonies.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about World's Oldest Worker Quits at 104 in the context of Work and Life.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (23-25 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

- Some games to break the ice between us. (Invisible ball) - Introduce my name. - Write 4 sentences about me. (3truth and a lie) - They discuss in pairs the false one. - They do the game themselves. - Find some one who...... - Monitoring - Get feedback.

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Teach (25-30 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

- Review the topic about The Perfect Tenses. - Elicit as much as possible. - Give examples.

Test #2 (30-35 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Parts of Speech (8-12 minutes) • To reflect some information about parts of speech and dividing the sentence.

- Explain the meaning of parts of speech. - Elicit as much as possible. - Doing task number 2, page 3 (reading block) in pair-work group. - monitoring. - Feedback.
