Description

In this lesson students will write a summary of information from different sources then write an email giving information .The lesson starts with a class discussion ,to find who in the class has organised a trip or been on a trip organized . tr.discusses the pictures to check that students understand the situation . After that students will read the email for details . Tr. discusses with the students if they ever go away for a weekend . Tr asks students to circle the important information then have them discuss the email with a partner before they start writing .Tr. asks students to write an email then check with their partner then give it to me to check.

Main Aims

To provide process writing practice of a Writing an email in the context of Organizing a trip

Subsidiary Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversation in the context of organizing a trip

Procedure (21-31 minutes)

Lead in (3-4 minutes) • To activate their prior knowledge and introduce them to the topic .How to organize a trip.

Tr. gives students handout with 2 questions and have them work in grroups and discuss them.

Pre writing (2-3 minutes) • To introduce students to the topic.

Tr. asks students to look at the pictures and the caption and asks them some questions to be sure that the students understand the situation .

Reading for details (4-6 minutes) • To locate the relevant information .

Tr. asks students to read the first half of Barbra's email and locate the relevant information. Have them compare the answer with their partner . Feedback : Check WC

Controlled practice (6-8 minutes) • To focuson the appropriate information

Tr. tells students that they have to organize a weekend away for a group of friends to celebrate a birthday . have them work inpairs and circle one or two important points to tell your friends.

Controlled Practice (6-10 minutes) • to write an email

Tr. asks students to discuss their ideas with their groups . Have them work in pairs and write an email . Feedback: Have ss exchange emails with different partner and talk about the plans to gether .
