In this lesson, learners have chance to look at the prepositions and in a story by a depressed man and they will test their prepositions with completing the gaps and established real life situation to find the Scottish National gallery on the map.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of prepositions of movement in the context of story of a depressed men

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide inference reading practice using a text about The Glacier Express in the context of journey

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

As Lead in I will teach depressed, and ask students what they usually do when they feel depressed? Then focus students on the picture of Richard and establish that he is he is very depressed.

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

Students work in pairs to complete gaps in the story. We give FB as a class

Highlighting (2-4 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

I will ask couple of volunteers and begin telling the story of Richard. The two students have to act the story as I speak . After a couple of examples, put students in pairs . One Studentreads the story, the other acts it out.

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

The students will match the prepositions of movement with pictures and then they check with their partner first before we give answers

Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

Focus students on the pictures and Establish that its in Switzerland. Students work in pairs to identfy the things in the box, Help and monitor them

Semi-Controlled Practice (8-10 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

Students work together indivually to complete the gaps and compare with a partner. Then I will give a script as a FB

Free Practice (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Establish the situation and get students to find the Scottish National Gallery on the map, and also where Rodney and Rosa are. aSK students in pairs to decide a route to get the gallery
