Description

In this lesson, S.s will learn and use new vocabulary in context of things we take when travelling

Materials

Abc Face 2 face pre-intermediate

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and practice of items to take when travelling in context of future travels

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a conversations using the vocabulary given in context of future travels

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-6 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At the beginning I will tell the S.s that I'm going in a short holiday. And I have only a small bag and ask them what should I take. After that I will ask them in pairs to write 5 things to take when you travel

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Firstly I will show S.s a numbered picture using the projector and tell them that is my room. Secondly, S.s will be divided in two groups and i will give them 21 pieces of paper including the names of items in the pictures and ask them to think together and match. The first team who match first will be the winner.

Teach (15-20 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

After finishing, I will start this Stage with feedback as I will check their answers with clarifying any difficult pronunciation or Meaning. Through simple instructions and minimum "Teacher talking time" through miming or any other eliciting tool S.s will clarify the definition and usage of the vocabulary. I will work on that because it's considered to be a good chance to make S.s Speak and practice about stuff they know already in their own language, but trying to elicit it in English language by themselves considered to be the highest level of achievement for S.s in elementary class

Test #2 (8-12 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

After finishing the "Teach" stage. This will be a test for S.s by S.s . As I will ask them to work in pairs and test their mates by saying the number of item and the other student say the name of it. at the beginning of this activity I will pick randomly 2 pairs of them to act and all class will watch. after that each pair will start to work.

Free practice (13-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

In this stage, I will divide the class Into four groups and tell them "I will travel next week and I'm allowed to choose only five things from these stuff to take with me, work as groups and agree on five things only". After that I will mix each two groups together and ask them largely to choose only five items. One last move the two groups stands and discuss why they chose these items and the opposite. At the end they sit and I check their answers and try to discuss why these five items.
