  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a in a conversation using TL in the context of zoologists talking about amazing feats of nature.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T will show a picture of an elephant and a lion on the screen. T begins by telling SS 'think of ways describe these animals to a blind person. You will have 2 minutes to discuss this with your partner' T asks ICQs "what will you discuss?" "how much time do you have?" (2min) T Breaks SS into pairs to discuss describing the animals. T monitors OCFB

Exposure (4-6 minutes) • To expose ss to a model of the task and highlight useful words and phrases.

T instructs SS 'listen to interviews with three zoologists. number the photos in the order they are mentioned. Write a phrase each speaker uses to describe each animal. Fill out the form individually. do not submit it. you have a 4 minutes' T asks ICQ "who will you work with?" (alone) "Will you submit the form?" (no), 'How much time do you have?' (4min) T provides SS with link to google forms for gist activity. T plays audio 2.1 T gives SS 30 seconds to answer the questions. SS are nominated to share their responses OCFB

M(A)FP task (8-12 minutes) • To provide ss an opportunity to clarify TL

T provides SS with link to google forms task T will give SS 5 minutes to fill out the form with a partner and compare answers T asks ICQ "how much time do you have?"(5mins) " what will you do once you are finished?" ( compare answers with partner) T separates SS into BOR T monitors Once time is up, T will provide SS with answer sheet T gives SS 2 minutes to check answers OCFB

Controlled Practice (6-8 minutes) • To provide ss an opportunty to practice TL

T gives SS google forms T gives SS 4 mins to complete form individually T instructs SS to compare answers in pairs (2min) monitor OCFB

Freer Practice (6-8 minutes) • To allow students to practice flluency in coversation setting

SS will discuss with in a group setting a place they have given a 5 star rating to and a place they would give zero stars. elicit ss usage of collocations OCFB DEC
