Procedure (42-53 minutes)
Start the lesson by telling the Ss about CELTA coming towards the end and how I am looking to get a job as an ESL teacher. "what do you do?" Ss get in pairs and tell each other "what they do" and a) 1 thing about your job that you like b) 1 thing about your job that you don't like FB - 1 or 2 students - What does your partner do? What does your partner like about his/her job?
CCQs - Is the manager in charge of other people? - Does the receptionist work alone or with the public? - Is vet a doctor? Yes. For...? Small or big animals? - Does the accountant work with the public or with numbers? Does he work on the computer? - Does the waitress work in a restaurant...? Not always... Where ? - Does the builder work inside or outside? PRONUNCIATION - Flashcards. Choral Drilling. Group Drilling for words that are difficult to pronounce e.g "accountant" , "waitress"
In 2 groups - Match the pictures with the jobs. Come to the board and stick the job UNDER the picture. ICQ = What are you going to do? You'll match...what? Where will you stick the job? Ss come on the WB and provide the answers.
Ss listen to recording 2.55 - Listen and underline the correct word. ALONE. Are you going to circle or underline? Alone or with help? Good! - Now check with your partners. ( Answer Key on Board)
Crossword will be distributed in pairs. - You'll put words ACROSS and DOWN. With your partner. ICQ Across? Down? (Hand gestures) - With who? - Answer key ob the board
In groups of 2 - Which job is the most interesting?Why? FB. - Which job can make you more tired? Why? FB - Which job would you like to do? Why? - FB
Game of Charades. Students form 2 teams. 2 representatives of the teams sit in 2 chairs. " I will write a job. You will help your friend find the job. For example. " He is in charge of other people. He works inside, not outside" When your friend finds the job, I will write a new job. The team who finds the most jobs wins!
