Procedure (40-40 minutes)

Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

instructions: go together in pairs and talk about age ICQs: What are you going to discuss with your partner? Task: talk about old and young people Pair check: N|A Feedback: board students answers (whole class)

Pre-teach vocabulary (10-10 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible and to teach any blocking vocabulary

Convey meaning: have you got any brothers or sisters? elicit word: check meaning: is that your parent? model & CIC drill: Board word: elicit syllables & stress: highlight sounds: elicit form:

Listening for gist (5-5 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist task to get an overall idea of the text

Instruction: listen and decide if these children left home at a certain stage ICQs: do you have to listen to ever word? are you listening for specific information? Do you listen for a certain age? are we we listening for reasons why they stay at home? Task: students listen for the gist Pair check: Feedback: whole class answering

Listening for detail (10-10 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed listening tasks

True/ false questions Instructions: listening to text again and questions true/false and tick the correct one ICQs: Do you need to write long answers? What are you going to do to the false questions? correct them. Task: listen to the listening again and tick true or false. Pair check: Feedback: combine answers with whole class

Speaking / productive task (10-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to expire the text and practice their fluency

instructions: work in groups of 3 and discuss adv. and disadvantages ICQs: are you going to talk or write pros and cons? do you have 5 min for it? Task: discuss pros and cons in groups of 3 Pair check: checking answers Feedback: whole class
