Description

In this lesson, students learn some practical vocabularies about impact of using phone in our daily routine based on a reading text about Jack Knapp, a blogger and design partner at Google. It starts with his personal experience and a lead-in part then exposure, presentation, practice and finally production which is a speaking part as fallows.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-10 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

At this stage of the lesson I am going to talk about how much time a person spends on a phone, to set the context of reading and engage the students by showing them some related questions.

Set the context (10-12 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

• The teacher explains the Reading part. • The teacher shows the pictures of Jake Knapp in the reading part and asks: Do you know him? Is he familiar to you? -No What do think about this person? What is his job? -Because of his clothes maybe he is an employee, What do you think about the relation between him and mobile phone? -He uses the phone for doing his job. • The teacher listens to Ss speculations and tells them to check the correct answers after reading the text.

Pre- teach Vocabulary (10-12 minutes) • to prevent Ls blocking on unknown vocabulary in the questions or answers

• The teacher shows some pictures of words which can be unclear for students and asks students to type their speculation in the hangman.. • Drilling words • Matching games

Gisk Task (4-7 minutes) • to give Ss reason to read at a general level

The teacher asks SS to read the text and then answer the following questions: “What is the main problem that Jake Knapp faced?” “What general approach did he take to solve it?”

Specific Information Task (10-12 minutes) • to give Ss reason to read for individual items of information

The Teacher asks Ss to find answers for practice 3,4,5.

Semi-Controlled Practice (10-12 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

The Teacher asks Ss to find answers for practice 7.

Free Practice (10-15 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

Discuss in groups. Answer 3 Qs in "what do you think?" part.
