Description

In this lesson The students are going to learn the present perfect and present perfect continuous grammar needed for making complaints. They will be tested and then taught for the structures they lack command in.The reading and listening activies will be done to highlight the target structures.

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification and review of Present perfect simple and present perfect continuous in the context of complaining about goods or services

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a conversation in the context of complaining

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students are shown images of the online shopping websites T starts by taking students' reviews on the local online shopping websites like 'gittigidiyor' T asks if they ever had any problems while shopping online T relates his own problem 'that he has received a shirt in wrong size' to set the context and raise learners' interest by eliciting Student's suggestions are asked on the problem that the teacher has

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To gauge students' prior knowledge of the target language

Students are set the task of gap-filling with suitable verb tenses in an email complaining about a wrong delivery Students do the task individually while the Tmonitors Students are asked to work in pairs to compare their answers and discuss why or why not their partners have same answers T takes notice of whether the TL is being used or not

Teach (12-14 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Students are given a reading task of reading an email in pairs and discuss

Test #2 (8-10 minutes) • Check students' use of the target language again and compare with the first test

Students are given another email text with gaps Ss are asked to work individually to fill in the blanks with appropriate verbs Later they are Ss are given the second controlled practice activity of gap-filling to make sure they have learnt the structures

Free practice (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

The students are divided in pairs one student is A other is B They are given the respective role play cards They role play one being the customer and other being the customer services representative After 4 minutes they change roles and play again
