To provide gist and scan reading practice using a text about decision-making in the context of six thinking hats
Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification and practice of collocations in the context of decision-making

to show S.s the correct pronunciation of collocations as there some difficult vowels in them for Turkish language speakers
Procedure (31-39 minutes)
S.s will find 3 quotations on the wall and they will discuss in small groups their feeling about decision making , this exercise is for activating schemata and engage S.s
Ex.1 S.s will discuss together how they feel when they make decisions about the four items given to them, which is easy and which is difficult ? the teacher will set S.s in groups of three to complete this exercise. Teacher will do a small revision with S.s about their opinions and that will reflect on S.s as they will find a lot of similarities between each other
In Ex.2 , S.s will read for gist to figure out what is this technique about and how useful is it for people ? In Ex.3 S.s will skim the article to match each paragraph for the appropriate representation . In Ex.4 S.s will read for details as they will choose the most representative hat for them individually after that the teacher will develop a small conversation for S.s in pairs . so they tell each other which hat represent them and why ?
collocations will be clarified and used by S.s using T.T.T method . Test : the teacher Ask S.s to cover the article and think about which verbs goes with the nouns and noun phrases in Ex.5. Teach : S.s will check in pairs ,after that the teacher will write " collocations " on the white board and give them FB and check for pronunciations such as weak forms . Test : as C.C.Q , teacher will do a small game with S.s as he will write a verb and Elicit the collocation to S.s and they figure it out . Another Test also , will be In Ex.6 , as S.s will think about a decision they will make and start to tell each other using the vocabulary "collocation" given to them
