Description

In this lesson the students are going to get to know withe the past actions which were in progress and the structure,clarifying the meaning ,form and pronunciation,then going for more practice in the book and at the end for internalizing more they are supposed to talk in pairs

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Last actions and repetitive events in the past in the context of All in the past

Procedure

Warmer/lead in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

In this stage I will talk about the things that I did yesterday and then start using past continuous yesterday at this time

Exposure (2-3 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

In this stage I will ask my students to tell the class what they were doing yesterday at this time and what happened when they were doing something special

Highlighting (3-4 minutes) • Highlighting To draw students' attention to the target language

In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made in the correct form on the board to draw their attention to the TL. Then I am going to point the 2 usages of that (We use the past continuous to describe an action in progress at a specific moment in the past. We often use the past continuous to describe the situation at the beginning of a st) and pointing when something was happening another thing happened

Clarification (4-5 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

I will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and asking some CCQs; (Are the sentences about the past, present, or future? past - Are the actions finished? No. Can I use the word last weekend, yesterday ...at the end of these sentences? Yes). Are the actions in progress?yes ,Can we use them as repetition actions in the past?yes After that I will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentences.like the place of subject,auxiliary verb,and verb +ing ...then teaching the negative and question form

Controlled Practice (3-4 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

The students are going to do exercise A on page 129 in the grammar bank in 2 minutes. They will have 1 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check the answers with the whole class.
