Procedure (15-21 minutes)
In this stage I will talk about the things that I did yesterday and then start using past continuous yesterday at this time
In this stage I will ask my students to tell the class what they were doing yesterday at this time and what happened when they were doing something special
In this stage I will write some of the sentences that my students have made in the correct form on the board to draw their attention to the TL. Then I am going to point the 2 usages of that (We use the past continuous to describe an action in progress at a specific moment in the past. We often use the past continuous to describe the situation at the beginning of a st) and pointing when something was happening another thing happened
I will clarify the meaning by drawing a timeline on the board and asking some CCQs; (Are the sentences about the past, present, or future? past - Are the actions finished? No. Can I use the word last weekend, yesterday ...at the end of these sentences? Yes). Are the actions in progress?yes ,Can we use them as repetition actions in the past?yes After that I will elicit the structure from the students to clarify how to form the sentences.like the place of subject, auxiliary verb, and verb +ing ...then teaching the negative and question form
The students are going to do exercise A on page 129 in the grammar bank in 2 minutes. They will have 1 minutes to check their answers in pairs and then we will check the answers with the whole class.
