in this lesson, students learn about past simple through a context about teacher's hobbies in 20 and 7 years old. this lesson starts with a question about 2024 and teacher's personality and hobbies in 2024.and then students will learn about differences between past and present . there are controlled practice through filling the gaps with correct answer and finally there is a freer practice that student will write some sentences with past simple

Abc powerpoint , handmade flashcards , photo , board

Main Aims

  • To provide clarification about past simple, regular and irrigular verbs, was/were, negetive form of past simple

  • to review simple present

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (1-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

i'll start with a question *what year are we in *. this would lead them to the context

Exposure (5-7 minutes) • To provide context for the target language through a text or situation

first slide is about me right now in 20 years old. sts should guess a 20-year-old adult's activities and in the next slide , they'll see me when i was 7 years old .this lead them to understand the differences between present and the past

Highlighting (2-3 minutes) • To draw students' attention to the target language

my marker sentence in positive is : i wanted dolls . with this example,i'll teach them past tense my marker sentence in negative is : i didn't like English

Clarification (8-10 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the target language

Meaning: i'm gonna ask CCQs about the marker sentence like is it present or past? do i like dolls now?is it finished? Form; I'm gonna use timeline and fingering and CCQs like : do you see ing? do you see ed? Pronunciation:i'm gonna drill the sentence and i want sts to repeat after me. and then i use board to elicit the formula of the sentence + writing about ed pronunciation/id/

Controlled Practice (5-8 minutes) • To concept check and prepare students for more meaningful practice

sts should find the correct answer in the box and fill the gaps

Semi-Controlled Practice (5-7 minutes) • To concept check further and prepare students for free practice

sts will choose between two options they'll do 3 or 4 examples like i went to school(yesterday or tomorrow)

Free Practice (6-7 minutes) • To provide students with free practice of the target language

sts will write some sentences with past simple about what was yesterday for them. they can use the verbs in the box or they can ask me any verbs that they want to make sentence with.

error correction (2-3 minutes) • to give them feedback to help them improve

i'm gonna write the mistakes that they made on the board to help them improve and i'm gonna praise their efforts
