Description

Int this lesson, the ss will practice speaking about daily routines and learn the use of "both".

Materials

Main Aims

  • To provide fluency in the context of daily routines in present simple tense

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide pronunciation practice in the context of daily routines.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

The students are shown pictures related to daily routines . They are asked what is shown on the board and elicit daily routines . The Ss are asked to write the routines they remember from previous class. They note the routines they remember, then are asked to read, whoever gets the most wins.

Revision of past week (4-6 minutes) • To provide revision of sentence formulation

The Ss are shown jumbled sentences of questions "what time do you wake up?" and "when do you have breakfast?" they are asked to formulate the sentences correctly. They are shown a calender and asked to guess how to say "in the week" and "at the weekend"

Task 1- Celebrity interview (8-10 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice speaking skills

The Ss are put into groups. One s is given a celebrity card, the other is given a reporter card. They are asked to write 8 questions for the reporter part and 8 celebrity answers. On the reporter card there are some verbs to help them ask the qs.

Task 2- How about you? (6-8 minutes) • To provide further speaking exercise

The students are asked to stand up and ask peers questions to find out which routines they do at the same time. They are encouraged to take notes.

Feedback and Pronounciation (6-8 minutes) • To clarify the meaning, form and pronunciation of the task language

The ss are shown how to use "both" and they are asked to formulate sentences using the notes they have taken. Pronounciation focus.

The Board Game (10-12 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

The students will play a board game that has daily routines in either groups or pairs.
