Procedure (30-36 minutes)
T Tell SS that he is going to tell them about his day yesterday. Ask: guess 'was it a good or bad day?' Read the story. Try to use hand gestures to elicit some words from the text, eg. railing, knee. Ask SS to talk about a bad day they had in thier life. Who had a worse day? WC feedback/discussion and elicit some examples. “If you could go back in time, what would you do differently if you could?”. Elicit a few examples
Tell SS they will listen to the story again, “What things do I want to be different?” (stay up late/stop for coffee/angry boss/different boss) Tell SS to take notes as they listen. Instruct SS to compare in pairs. Do whole class feed back. Put the SS pairs and deliver the handouts. Give the answer key. Do WC FB.
Tell SS to do it in pairs. Tell SS to Read Sylvia’s story and fill in the gaps with "I wish" or "If only" and the correct form of the verb. Giive the answer key Give feedback by monitoring. 'Wish' and ‘If only’ are both used to talk about regrets, things that we would like to change either about the past or the present.
