Subsidiary Aims
-
To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of the most interesting places they have ever visited.
Procedure (45-55 minutes)
The listening text is about London. So I will put some pictures of London on the WB to create interest in the context. I will ask some questions about London to create friendly enviroment so that the Ss can express their ideas easily.
The Ss may not know the famous places in London. To create awareness of the places, I will put the pictures of the places on the WB and If they know the places\ I will elicit from the Ss or If they do not know anything about those places,I will write on the WB. These pictures are important to understand the listening test because the person is talking about them.I will let the Ss talk about London in pairs.
I will give the Ss a handout andI instruct the Ss to listen to the audio and match the questions with the pictures.I want them to check their answers with their partners and then I will get the WC feedback. I will nominate a student and that student will stand up and show us the picture on the WB or on the wall.
I will instruct the Ss to listen to the audio carefully and answer the questions. I want them to check their answers with their partners. If I have time, I will get the WC feedback. If I do not have time, I will give them the answer key. But this part is important to see whether the Ss understand the context or not. So I will probably get the WC feedback and to check the understanding, I will use CCQ (like why? or why not?) The Ss will listen to five extracts from the interview and try to write in the missing words. After that I will give the Ss the answer key.
To create speaking environment, I want the Ss to work in pairs. I want them to talk about the most interesting and beautiful place they have visited or seen. I will give them the questions that they have heard in the text and I want them to ask each other these questions.
