Description

In this lesson, students learn more about vocabulary related to restaurants and enhance their reading skills. The lesson starts with [mostly yes/no or short answer types of] questions related to their favorite restaurant, continues with the TL as in the reading part and practice, and ends with discussion about the text. (Free exercises)

Main Aims

  • To provide students with the ability to read texts more skillfully

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide students with new words they can use in the context of a reading about "Different Restaurants"

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will ask students questions about their favorite restaurants, foods, wether they've ever been to a unique restaurant, etc.

Pre-Reading (1-2 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

I will give students some general information about the text and explain any blocking words beforehand. I will also tell them what is expected of them after reading the text.

While-Reading (2-3 minutes) • To provide students with less challenging gist and specific information reading/listening tasks

I will provide students with information they may need or ask while reading the text.

Post-Reading (2-3 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

First I will make sure that students have understood everything and don't have any more questions. Then I will ask students to answer the True/False questions (which acts as ICQ) and then to break out in pairs and answer the question at the end of the lesson aimed for mostly free exercises part.
