Procedure (18-45 minutes)
Teacher puts tthe students into groups Teacher passes some pictures to the learners T asks some questions to elicit 'stories' topic from the ss. Warmer activity finishes.
T gives instructions for the listening activity. Ss will listen only once. T passes the Hos adapted from (Cutting Edge- Elementary level- unit 8- listening 8.2) T ask ss to fill in the gaps from the audio. T lets them check in pairs and gives the answer key.
After the listening exercise, T writes two sentences on the board that are taken out of the listening script. Then T elicits the time and meaning of the sentence by asking CCQ Then T elicits the form of the structure and T teaches the main stress pronunciationand intonation through drills.
T gives instructions for the activity. T provides verb cards for controllled drills. T shows the 'verb 2' cards. First T build up one past smple negative sentence. Each time ss change the subject of the negative sentence. Ss change the verb 2 cards into past simple negative sentences. They drill some sentences on the target grammar form. Then the activity finishes
T sticks story pictures on the board related to well known fairy tale stories. T elicits the topic of the stories in a couple of minutes. T puts ss in pairs. T gives instructions for the semi-controlled speaking activity. Each learner will be given a story character mask and a small card as a clue to build up their sentences. T demos for the ss to make them understand the activity better. Ss think and build up their sentences with their peers for a little while. The act out the activity after the activity T does error correction orally.
T refers back the story pictures on the board once again. T groups the students and asks them to pick a story and discuss what happened in the story from the very beginnig to the end. T monitors the ss If there is time another feer activity can be done by asking ss to discuss ıf the stories ended hapily or not and which story they liked most?
