To provide detailed reading in the context of Jailed because of a cough and Juror's Cough clears throat but jails innocent man
Procedure (36-49 minutes)
Greet ss and display some pictures of murders, jail and courts to elicit the topic of the lesson which is crime and criminal.Ask ss to talk to their partners about what they have seen in two minutes.The teacher will ask and try to elicit the difference between (the thief is able to rob 1 million, The thief enjoys robbing 1 million).
Ss are going to be handed by a HO to answer the first exercise which is blank filling. Verbs are included beside each sentence while the students has to determine in which form they should use it (gerund or to infinitive).An answer key is distributed to them and peer check occur on the answers.
A clarifying table will be drawn on the WB to show the exact cases to use either gerunds, infinitive to or infinitive (without to), the rule is elicited from ss with examples to model it.
Ss are going to peer check exercise 1 together and figure out the reasons for each answer.Ss will answer the second exercise in the HO as a pair work to share their reasons of choosing that exact answer.A WC FB will be done to ensure all got the right answer and are sure of their reasons.
A table will be displayed on the board which is divided into three columns (...to go m, ....go,.....going) a whole class activity is done to ensure their understanding.
The class is divided into two groups to read different articles which include similar cases to share the articles they read before with the other group and answer the questions together and note weather they found the information in the first, second or both.A WC FB is done.
