Sports vocab/ present continuous in the context of sports

Description

In this lesson, students will learn new vocabulary about sports. They will also learn the present continuous tense in the field of sports.

Materials

Abc Pictures, Students book (p. 22- 23)

Main Aims

  • By the end of this lesson, students will have known the meaning, pronunciation, and form of new vocabulary related to sports. They will also have learnt about the use, pronunciation, and form of the present continuous tense in the context of sports.

  • Speaking for fluency

Procedure

Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

-The T shows the Ss a picture about different sports and asks them about the picture. -Then, the T asks the Ss if they played any sports when they were young and if they enjoyed it. / For Ss who didn't play any sport previously, The T asks if they want to try any sport and why. (The T tells the Ss it is ok if you don't know the name of the sport. You can describe it)

Test #1 (8-10 minutes) • To check students' prior knowledge of the target language

*The T sets instructions for (Ex. 1A, P.22): -You have some pictures and some words in the green box here. Alone, try to match the pictures to the words -You have 2 minutes. *Meanwhile, the T monitors. *Peer checking *Answer key (T says it is ok if you haven't answered all of them because we will learn about the new words now)

Teach (10-15 minutes) • To clarify areas of the target language where students had difficulty in the first test stage

Exposure (Grammar) (5-7 minutes) • To get the students exposed to the text that includes the TL

*The T sets instructions for (Ex.2A, P.22) You have six situations some of them are for a soccer game and some of them are about a tennis game Circle the correct sport in each situation You have 3 minutes *The T demonstrates the first example with the Ss. *Then the Ss do the rest *Meanwhile, the T monitors *Peer checking *The T gets the answers from the Ss.
