Main Aims

  • To provide gist and detailed reading practice using a text about coffee in the context of breakfast habits

  • To provide fluency and accuracy speaking practice in a role play in the context of breakfast hab

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (5-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Ask a question about morning habits.

Pre-Teach vocabulary (10-10 minutes) • introduce the new vocabulary

exercise to elicit vocabulary

Gist-Reading/Listening #1 (9-9 minutes) • less challenging gist reading/listening tasks

Give students a gist exercise and then ask the m to skim-read a text.

Reading#2 (8-8 minutes) • more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

text will read the text slowly and carefully in order to deepen understanding. Exercises will be handed out before the reading begins.

Productive task (8-8 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned

A task will be given to allow students to discuss the coffee article in groups of three. Afterward, groups will present their finding to the class.
