To provide accuracy and fluency speaking practice in a debate in the context of The things that they want to be banned
Procedure (40-46 minutes)
To create interest in listening and discussion context, I am going to show them three pictures. In this way, I am going to teach them two important words. I think they are familiar with the word 'experiment' but some of the students may learn the word 'surrogate mothers' for the first time.
To create awareness of listening part, I am going to divide the class in 3 groups and want them to select one envelope. Each group will have a question to discuss. And I am going to instruct them to discuss the question in their groups and express their opinion. After that I am going to get feedback by nominating one student in each group. I am going to write the three questions on the WB. The students will listen to an audio. They will hear six people giving opinions about three issues.Instruct them to listen and make a note of which issue they were asked about and what they said. And then,I am going to get feedback. ( the whole class feedback)
If It is necessary, I will play the audio one more time and I am going to give the Ss a handout and want them to match A and B to make phrases.I want them to check their answers with their partners. After that, I am going to clarify the meaning of them and categorize them on the WB by eliciting.CCQs will help me to see whether the Ss get the meaning or not. The students will listen to another audio to get the pronunciation of the phrases. Firstly, I will instruct them to listen to the audio and write down the beginning of the sentences.After getting the feedback. The Ss will listen again, I want them to underline the stressed word in each phrase. I am going to drill.
I am going to divide the class in two groups and give them two issues to discuss in their groups.They will have the opportunity to use the phrases that they have learnt. After that, The person that they have nominated will change the group and tell them their opinions.
ıWhile they are speaking, I will monitor them and write down the mistakes that they have done. I am going to write the mistakes on the WB and correct them.
