To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation in the context of celebrations.
Procedure (36-44 minutes)
Start with a personal anecdote to activate student's prior knowledge and set the context. Continue by asking students what they did yesterday . Try to elicit the TL during this stage. Write a few good examples on the WB.
Instruct the students to look back at the reading text from the previous lesson and find and underline 6 verbs. Tell them not to include was. Let them to compare their answers in pairs.
Show a copy of Grammar Analysis sheet to the students and tell them to answer the questions on it individually. After that tell them to check their answers.
Give WC feedback and correct students' errors. Elicit regular and irregular verbs. Pay attention to clarify the usage of present form in questions and negative sentences.
Distribute Exercise 1 to the students and instruct them to put the verbs in brackets into the past simple. Tell them to check their answers in pairs. Project exercise one on the board and give WC feedback.
Tell the students to make questions by using the words on Exercise 2 before distributing it to the students. Tell them to check their answers in pairs. Give WC feedback.
Put the students into two line. Distribute the past simple form of several verbs ( ate,went, made,saw,had,got, give) while distributing the present form of the same verbs to the other group. After that instruct them to find their past/ present forms. After finding their partner ,tell them to work together. Instruct them to choose one celebration( A birthday party, weeding etc) interview their partner with the questions in Exercise 2. Nominate several students to share their interview with the WC.
