Main Aims

  • To provide gist, inference, detailed and specific information listening practice using a text about 15th Birthday celebration in Mexico. To discuss everything regarding the event to include the procession of the celebration, foods, customs, and significance..

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency and accuracy in the phrases used when discussing events.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

I will have a picture of several events and ask the students what those events have in common.

Useful Language (8-10 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

I will go over some useful texts with the learners by having them read out loud and do a small, controlled practice on useful language.

Productive Task(s) (18-20 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

During this time, I will ask my learners to discuss the significance of a 15th birthday for a girl in Mexico. I will also have them discuss the celebrations they have attended to build fluency.

Feedback and Error Correction (8-10 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

During this stage, I will ask questions about what they discussed using the correct pronunciations. I will also clear up any confusion in event related language that they might have.
