Procedure (36-48 minutes)
Greet students and divide them into three/four groups (based on their number). An activity of grabbing the right from for each situation. Groups are standing in front of the board to pick the correct form(will, going to, continuous or present simple) for the my plans. 1.By coincidence I meet an old friend in the street and invite her for dinner today.2.She tells me she wants to attend a football match for(a Turkish team) next week but she didn't buy her ticket.Tomorrow she has to travel to Ankara to visit her parents. Her plane is at 9:00 a.m.
Students are reading the dialogue between two friends (James and Richard) about their trip arrangement to attend a football match. They are supposed to read each situation and decide what is the appropriate future form for each sentence then circle it. A WC FB is done to ensure their understanding for their options.
I am going to draw a table on WB and elicit from ss proper situations and usages for each future form which are (will: spontaneous decisions, assumptions, opinions / going to: future decisions, predictions based on evidences / present continuous: arranged future plans/present simple: actions which are restricted by time tables or schedule. "this stage in case ss need a revision"
Ss are going to answer the analysis (on the top of page 109) questions which is distributed as a HO, then they will have a peer check followed by a WC FB.
Another task ss are going to practice(gap filling). They are going to work in pairs then a WC FB is done.
Ss work in pairs to prepare a short talk for about the provided topics. Each one chooses three topics to talk about with his/her partner. Finally they share what they have already prepared with the whole class.
