Procedure (38-28 minutes)
Display the first picture and ask: can you tell me something that you did and you feel happy or proud of? Example: I felt proud when I gave my first class. Listen to their answers. Showing the second pictures ask: What is he doing? Can you please tell me something you want to do in the future? Example:I really want to travel to another country. Ask SS to share their answers. Finally, do the same with the third picture asking: What is he doing? what is something that you want to do in the future but is not probable. Example: I want to buy my own apartment. Gist: Explain that what we were talking about were achievements, ambitions and dreams. Share a task in Google Forms where they have to match the speaker with a picture. Play the audios and mention that they do not have to summit / send their answers, just finish the exercise and then we will check together. CCQs: what do you have to do first? do you have to send your answers? Finally, show them the answers so that they can compare Answers: Bill - d Ralph- c, e Deb -a Ian -b Swati - f Detail Show SS the next three questions in the same Google Forms task, explain that they will listen again to only 3 people and they have to answer the questions, is not necessary for them to send their answers since we will check together displaying the correct answers. Clarification MEANING Show SS the next slide on google presentations with the sentences and ask CCQs: Which phrase do we use to mention something that we want to do and we really thing is possible? Which phrase do we use to talk about something impossible? Which phrase do we use to express something that makes us feel happy and proud? Write the function next to the phrase after they answer. FORM Using the same sentences ask: CCQs: 1. What is this word? ( pointing out “’d”) (would) / Can we conjugate the verb after would? (no) 2. What is this word? (pointing out “s”) (has) / What is this tense? (present perfect) 3. Is there an achievement that we consider more important? (no) / Is this something that I will do in the future ( no) Listen their answers and write the answers if necessary. Write some of their examples. Show them a simple task in Google Forms where they will have to match 3 sentences: One thing I’d like to do one day is… It´s always been my dream to…. My greatest achievement was when…. Share a link to Jamboard with the phrases reviewed, ask them to write 1 or 2 examples using their personal information ( depends on the time and the number of SS). Send them to BORs for 5 minutes.
