Main Aims

To provide fluency speaking practice in a conversation about the Olympic games in the context of sports.
Subsidiary Aims

To provide clarification and practice of some collocations (verb-noun) in the context of sports.
Procedure (41-54 minutes)
T will show pictures (about the Olympic games) on the board and ask them what can they see. When the finish, T will ask them some questions to gain their interest in the topic. e.g: what do you know about the olympic games? Have you ever attended a sport event? when?
T will have Ss involve in a 'running dictation' activity in which they: -have to be in three groups and choose one to run around (or outside) the class looking for four pieces of a reading passage to be collected and put in the correct order. Then, Ss will be given 2 mins to prepare some information about an athletic person they know and talk for one minute (without pausing). Ss share it with the class. FB: GW, WC
-T will give Ss a matching handout containing some collocations (verb-noun) and ask them to work individually and match the verbs with the type of sport. After switching partners, T will have Ss check their answers. T gives them the key answers to check. Then, T writes new words on the board and elicit the meaning from Ss (if they know) T motivates Ss to add more. FB: PW, WC
- Ss will listen to a person talking about a sport and say what that sport is. -T will ask Ss to choose a sport and talk about it (e.g: rules, number of players, equipment used.....etc). within his/her group. -T will give Ss a handout with questions and ask them to take turns to ask and answer. - T will have Ss pretend to be a famous athlete (e.g: a footballer, tennis player....etc) and tell his/group about his/her life. -If there is time, T will have Ss do 'Find Someone Who' activity by mingling around the class to find some people play, watch, or like some sports. FB: WC, S-T
At the end of the lesson, T will write the collected errors , that Ss did during the previous activities, and motivate them to correct them.
