Main Aims

  • To provide clarification of language used for idioms amd phrases in the context of giving and ask for direction

Subsidiary Aims

  • To provide fluency speaking practice in a Conversations in the context of giving and ask for direction

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (3-5 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

T shows ss a pic and ask them * what can you see here * then gives the ss 2 miinutes to discuss the questions in pairs and then T says * you 2 together*

Setting the context (1-2 minutes) • To make the ss familiar about what I'm going to teach

T says * so guys what do you think about our topic today?* then T says ok our topic is how to give and ask for direction

Exposure (8-10 minutes) • To get the students exposed to the text

T says to the ss * now we have an audio between 2 people and one of them wants to go to 2 places so i want you to listen while you are reading the text and to tell me at the end what are the 2 places * T asks ICQS so guys will you listen only or listen and read

Highlighting (4-5 minutes) • To get the students notice the target language

T says * here we have 2 tables the first one about asking for direction the second one about giving direction so i want you to reread the text and complete these tables with the expressions in bold from the text you have read and you will have 4 minutes do it alone* after the ss finish T says *finished? ok check in pairs *

clarification (5-8 minutes) • To introduce the target language from the text using CECDW

T asks the ss * what is the answer of q 1 ss say (how to get to ) t says ok listen to me and then repeat after me while iam pronouncing the phrase then t says CCQS when i say this phrase am i asking for directon or giving direction?? ss say asking for directoon then t writes the phrase on the board . t says what is the q number 2 ss say (how do i get to ) t does driling then ask ss when i say that this means that i know the place or not then t writes the phrase on the board.t says what about q 3 ss say (which way) t does driling then says ok this is when i want to ask about the road then writes the phrase on the board and so on......

controlled activity (5-6 minutes) • To practice the target language in controlled activity (accuracy-based)

t says now i want you to correct the order of these words with your partner and you will have 2 min then ss check in pairs then t shows the ss the answer from the power point . the second part of the q t says to the ss try to act a conversation with your partner and you will have 3 min

Language Practice( speaking part ) (8-10 minutes) • To provide students with practice of the task language

t says * now it is time to speake so i want you to discuss this q with your partner and you have 7 min and let me know your imagination after you finish. t is monitoring while they are speaking.

Feedback ( content and language) (2-3 minutes) • To make the ss familiar about what I'm going to teach

t asks ss let me know the answer of your friend ya Mohssen . then t writes the mistakes of the ss on the board and starts to elisit from them * can i say ..... then thanks them.
