Main Aims

  • To provide speaking fluency practice in the context of choosing a manager for a pop group.

Subsidiary Aims

  • To practice expressions about agreement/disagreement.

Procedure

Warmer/Lead-in (4-4 minutes) • To set lesson context and engage students

Students see the image and talk about it, what do you see in the picture? or who are the people there? what are they doing?

Context Preparation (6-6 minutes) • To provide a model of production expected in coming tasks through reading/listening

Students resolve a Google Forms about which are the characteristics for a good manager and then they have two minutes to speak if a manager is luxury or necessity.

Language Preparation (8-8 minutes) • To highlight and clarify useful language for coming productive tasks

Students read the profiles from three different managers and will work with expressions about agree and disagreement. Students resolve a Google Forms about these expressions.

Speaking (10-15 minutes) • To provide an opportunity to practice target productive skills

Students choose a manager for a pop group. They work together to find a solution to a set problem. Allow students to talk about the topic (choosing a manager for a pop group).

Content and Language (DEC) (6-6 minutes) • To provide feedback on students' production and use of language

Students discuss about some wrong sentences from the Speaking stage.
