T shows some realia to the Ss and tries to get the vocabulary that they already know on the subject. Through OHP, some pictures are also shared where healthy vs unhealthy food is elicited from the Ss as the slides pass.
Self prepared food vocabulary is given with the stress of the words written on the WB and the concepts fact and myth are also taught. The Ss will work in pairs to complete the 1st and the 2nd exercise of the HO.
The Ss complete the exercise from the HO with their previous knowledge on the subject. After they individually complete the exercise they check in pairs to see if their answers overlap.
Ss will skim read the text on Food: Facts or Myth and try to ppredict which sentence should be the first in each paragraph. After that in Groups check the replies of each other and discuss.
The text is read for the second time for comprehension and to understand the text fully, to see if their predicted answers were the correct ones. In pairs, they check how many answers were correct.
The Ss write their favorite foods on a blank paper in 2 minutes and after they are finished, T asks them to go to the correct corners for their favorite food: Proteins, Carbohydrates, Vitamin-Minerals or Other. The Ss in each group mingle and discuss among themselves why they have chosen this food, within the concept of healthy/unhealthy.
T gives the Ss a word search puzzle for the food vocabulary discussed within the lesson. The Ss will work in groups when completing the puzzle. This practice will help go over the spelling of the lexis learnt. There is a small prize at the end...
