Description

In this lesson, students learn about first impression based on a reading text about "a stranger in a strange town" they will discuss questions together and relate to the text finally they will they will practice through some follow up activities.

Main Aims

  • To provide detailed and gist reading practice using a text about first impression " A stranger in a strange country"

  • To provide fluency and accuracy

Procedure

Lead-in (2-3 minutes) • To set lest on context and engage students.

T show ss pictures and asks what do you see? where do you want to travel ? tell me which pic in chicago? which pic in Bristol ? which pic in Melbourne ? t gives instructions work alone in 2m t asks ICQs monitoring then the students share their answers

setting the context (1-1 minutes) • To prepare students for the text and make it accessible

t asks ss guess the topic of today ? t introduce the topic . today we are going to take about traveling and first impression .

pre teaching vocab (1-2 minutes) • to introduce the knew words that might block their understanding .

t shows ss pic of a bird then tell a store we have a bird .his name is kiwi .kiwi used to live in sunny county .one day he decided to travel to a cold country and their forever . t asks ss kiwi is an .......? to elicit the answer so kiwi is an immigrant . t asks ccq does he move to another country ? will he live there for a long time or short time ? drilling (teacher , coral, group , alone ) t write it on the board and highlight the stress and part of speech .

gist reading (2-3 minutes) • To get the students exposed to the text and the theme, (Gist)

T asks Read and tell me who is negative and who is positive about their first impression alone in 2m ICQs how many minutes do you have ? are you going to answer it alone or with your friend ? the t asks them to check their answer in pairs.

detailed reading (3-5 minutes) • To provide students with more challenging detailed, deduction and inference reading/listening tasks

T asks ss to read the text again and check the right sentences and correct the false ones. do it alone in 3m ICQs how many minutes do you have ? are you going to answer it alone or with your friend ? monitoring check your answer in pairs . then T shows the answer key .

post readind / follow up activities (7-10 minutes) • To provide with an opportunity to respond to the text and expand on what they've learned
feedback (1-2 minutes) • to give the students the chance to react to the content of the reading in personalized and fluency-based activity -To correct any errors have been accrued during the tasks
