Procedure (39-55 minutes)
In the previous lesson, the students will have worked on the context of the evenings and weekends ( free time activities). I am going to put some pictures on the wall. I am going to ask them a question. - What's your favourite free time activity? or What do you usually do in your free time? I want the students to stand up and look at the pictures on the wall. And also I want them to go towards the picture about the activity they usually do. I want them to sit together. As a result, the students will have the opportunity to work with a new partner and also they will have the chance to revise the vocabulary they have learnt in the previous lesson.
I am going to remind the students of the context of the listening part they did in the previous lesson. I am going to choose two sentences ( one positive and one negative) from the listening part. I am going to say the sentences. + I visit friends - I don't go out very much. To elicit the meaning from the students, I am going to ask questions. Is this sentence negative or positive? Which tense is it ? What do we use it for ? Do we use it for daily routines ? After I get the answers, I am going to drill. After that, I am going to write the negative sentence on the WB to elicit the form by asking questions. I don't go out very much Subject + auxiliary + infinitive
I am going to give the HO to the students. Before giving the handout, I am going to give clear instruction.I want them to look at the sentences and tick the sentences that are true about them and I want them make the other sentences negative.I am going to show them first one on the WB as an example. After that I want them to compare their answers with their partners. To get feedback, I am going to nominate.
I am going to choose two sentences from the listening part again to elicit the meaning and the form. Do you go out ? Do you go to the cinema? To elicit the meaning and the form, I am going to ask questions. Which tense is it ? Is it negative or questions. After that I am going to drill and then I am going to write one sentence on the board. Do you go out ? Auxiliary + Subject + infinitive ? I am going to ask questions to elicit the form. Which subjects do we use ' the auxiliary verb: do ' ? And also I am going to write it on the WB. Do I/you/we/they ...... ?
I am going to give them a handout and want them to fill in the gaps with do/don't or an infinitive fron the box. I am going to give clear instructions and show them an example on the WB.After they finish it, I want them to check their answers with their partners. To get feedback, I am going to nominate the students.
I want them to work in a group. I am going to give them a handout. There will be questions and I want them to ask these questions to their friends in their group and also they can add their own questions.
If I have time, I am going to correct their mistakes on the WB.
